U.S. Memorial Wereth

The Wereth Eleven

The 11 Soldiers

Remembering

"Invisible" heroes

After the Wereth massacre had been forgotten for a long time, the work of the association, but also other initiatives such as film productions and books, made it possible for the first time to give the eleven soldiers the attention they deserved. Only in 2011 did they become internationally known as the “Wereth Eleven” through the film of the same name by Robert Child and Joseph Small.

At this point our association would like to introduce the eleven soldiers who were cruelly murdered by the SS on December 17, 1944. They fought for the freedom of a foreign region, even though they were not free even in their own homeland.

(As you can see, photos of some soldiers are still missing. Despite research and archive inquiries we could not find them yet. If you have contact to family members or if you have photos, please contact us via the contact form).
